Change of layout and transformation of the apartment interior
Completion in 2026

The aim of the renovation of this 1955 apartment was to create a suitable, universal spatial layout and interior design for a sublet apartment in Prague. The proposed solution is characterized by opening up the living space, increasing comfort, and maximizing storage capacity.

The original corridor-based layout, from which individual rooms were accessed, was transformed into an open-plan one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. Connecting the rooms with the corridor allowed for improved access to natural daylight. A significant enhancement of the interior’s spatial quality and airiness was also achieved through a unified base of white wall finishes, the removal of suspended ceilings, and the opening of the space up to the reinforced concrete beam ceiling structure. The interior is complemented by light-colored built-in joinery in soft pastel tones. Floor finishes and interior doors were replaced with new ones, and the bathroom was enlarged and directly connected to both the corridor and the bedroom, thereby increasing user comfort.

The project was carried out within the scope of a “repartitioning of the apartment,” without any intervention in load-bearing structures. The renovation included a complete replacement of plumbing, electrical installations, and ventilation systems. Heating is central and remained unchanged. Wall and ceiling surfaces were newly treated with regard to interior microclimatic conditions. The use of climate-regulating plasters ensures better moisture control and the elimination of thermal bridges that could otherwise lead to mold formation.
